A determined yet compassionate look on a face framed by a snowy, non-nonsense hair style, a stout septuagenarian tending to her beloved garden, is a familiar sight for J Block residents and neighbours of Ms Asha Gambhir, a warrior for recycling kitchen waste and turning it into black gold for plants.
She breaks into a wide smile the moment one talks about recycling with her. She effortless rattles off ways and means to convert all wet waste into useful products for the home.
Over the past 40 years, Asha has been driving this passion with multiple NGOs, agencies , RWAs and similar insititutions. She deftly and expertly turns every peel of a vegetable or a fruit into either black gold (manure) or solutions for mopping, cleaning or liquid fertilizer.
An avid social worker with more than 40 years of experience, environment care runs in her blood. Her waking moments are completely dedicated to her beloved plants, and to society.
