Residents in our local community are under constant, unwelcome assault by flocks of pigeons, often referred to as 'rats with wings.'
These pigeons are not just a nuisance, they are a threat to our health and the values of our residences. The two decades-long practice of pigeon feeding has led to a drastic increase in their population and a parallel rise in respiratory, digestive, and other significant health disorders among the residents.
People are suffering, and there have been instances of residents dying due to pigeon-related diseases. Our once pristine properties are tarnished by messes on an epic scale. We all love nature, but when it comes to an overrun of pigeons damaging our health and property, we ought to stand up.
Studies indicate that pigeons can carry diseases like histoplasmosis, cryptococcosis, and psittacosis, which can be severe to human health. As per the World Health Organization report, exposure to pigeon droppings can lead to significant respiratory health risks, especially in individuals with weakened immune systems.
By ending the pigeon feeding and initiating a clean-up initiative in our neighborhood, we can return to a healthier and cleaner environment. It will not only improve overall public health but also maintain the aesthetic and value of our properties. This issue hits home for every resident, and it is our collective responsibility to protect each other and the place we call home.
Stand with us in saying NO to pigeon feeding and YES to a cleaner and healthier neighborhood. Please, sign this petition.
