Urgent Attention Required – Possible Internal Fraud in Booking Transaction

I am writing to formally bring to your attention a serious fraudulent incident related to my attempt to book a room at Ginger Chanakyapuri. Below are the key details:

Incident Details:

• Since February 4th, we have been trying to make a direct reservation by calling the official contact number provided on the Ginger Chanakyapuri website (011-2467 7392), but our calls went unanswered.

• On the morning of February 5th, we received a call from 7404204762, from an individual claiming to be a hotel employee. His whatsapp showed (~gingerhotels).

• He proceeded to take my booking and confirmed room availability for my desired dates.

• Eventually, I ended up transferring a total of Rs. 11,000, yet my booking was still not confirmed.

• Frustrated, I requested to cancel the booking and asked for a refund. He then instructed me to provide my QR code for the refund process.

• After sharing my QR code, he claimed to have processed the refund at 2:00 PM, but the amount has not been credited to my account.

Concerns and Request for Investigation

This incident raises serious concerns about potential internal fraud within your hotel. Here’s why:

1. I only called the landline number of Ginger Chanakyapuri (011-24677392) listed on Google and did not call any other number.

2. The fact that I received a callback from 7404204762 suggests that someone within your hotel accessed my missed call information and contacted me. This indicates:

o A possible insider leak, where an employee is involved in fraudulent activities.

o Or, your official phone line may have been compromised or tapped.

3. I have come across past legal cases filed against your hotel for similar fraudulent incidents. While you may have obtained a favorable court decision, the fact that these scams continue suggests ongoing internal misconduct.

Immediate Action Required

• I urge you to conduct a forensic audit of your hotel’s internal communication systems to determine how my missed call was accessed.

• A full internal investigation should be conducted to identify those responsible.

• Appropriate legal action should be taken against the individuals involved.

For your reference, I have attached details of the monetary transactions made, along with the name and contact number of the individual involved.

  • Initial Contact: Unsuspecting customers call these numbers.
  • Payment Request: The fraudster instructs the caller to make a payment via UPI.
  • Follow-Up Scam: After the payment is made, the fraudster falsely claims that the payment hasn’t been received and requests another payment.
• Outcome: The scammer then vanishes with the money.

• Always verify the authenticity of contact numbers and payment details listed on websites.
• Cross-check by visiting the official website or contacting the establishment through verified channels.
• If in doubt, do not proceed with the payment and report the incident to your bank or local authorities immediately.
