Mystical Forest: A Celebration of Nature, Art, and Community

Mystical Forest: A Celebration of Nature, Art, and Community

Sadhya Dance Company, led by renowned choreographer Santosh Nair, celebrates its 27th anniversary with a special presentation of Mystical Forest—a powerful dance production that explores the complex and essential bond between humanity and the natural world. Through a compelling blend of classical Indian dance, martial arts, and contemporary movement, the work evokes the forest as a living entity—resilient, wise, and under threat.

This year’s celebration moves beyond the stage. Having lived in Chittaranjan Park for over a year, Santosh Nair envisioned the anniversary as a community-engaged event. The idea was not only to perform for the community but to collaborate with it—inviting creative individuals, organizations, and local supporters to shape something larger together.

Rajib Mukhapadhay of Le Rhythme Dance Company has been a key force behind the program’s development, offering both creative and logistical support to bridge the professional arts and community engagement. Visual artist Deepak Kumar Ghosh has joined the effort by guiding young students in creating nature-inspired artworks that will accompany the performance, adding another dimension to the evening.

Joy Dey, a member of the Social Initiative for Green Neighborhood (SIGN), has supported the outreach effort, helping align the program with themes of environmental awareness and civic participation.

The true energy of this event comes from those within the neighborhood—artists, organizers, and thoughtful spectators who care about the intersection of creativity and community.

Mystical Forest invites not only performers and visual artists, but also writers, musicians, and observers who value shared purpose. The hope is that this performance will spark future collaborations that grow organically from mutual respect, imagination, and care for the world we live in.

Join us for this unique experience at B.C. Pal Auditorium, 6:30 p.m., May 25.
