The fields soaked with rain water, the trees and plants swaying happily in the rain washed winds, the birds madly chirping away while flying across the sky in pouring water, the farmers still lovingly tending to their crops while covering their heads with a plastic sheet, and the most beautiful of all sights - the sky wrapped in a dark cloak of rain heavy clouds and suddenly a flock of white storks flying across the expansive and green fields! Monsoon or Bhadro - nature’s gift to Mother Earth, when every living form reproduces, revives and relives.- the most romantic of all seasons.
Poets have rendered the most beautiful compositions having been inspired by monsoon. And human beings have worshipped Gods in monsoons with heart warming compositions depicting their extent of devotion.
Even though water is the source of life on earth, excess of it is also equally or more dangerous for life. Thus it is very important for mankind to tame the forces of nature so that these forces can be gainfully harnessed for all living forms and their sustenance. This would help in saving the infrastructure like roads and bridges from the ravages of floods, water logging, soil erosion, uprooting of forests and saving wild life forms.
Ancient India has shown us that rain water harvesing used to be done even before the world had woken up to the concept. Why cant we have the same facility in every park or open space in the colony?
This year, Delhi has received unprecedented rains till now which has resulted in loss of life, resources, and above all humungous wastage of water. Can we really not harness this facility to our benefits? The equipment does not really cost much. Its just a mind shift towards saving our precious resources that our beautiful planet is endowed with.
Let us pledge to create rain water reservoirs before the next monsoons. CR Park Speaks will carry all such heroic stories. Let us create history. Let us save water. Let us save Mother Earth. Let us save LIFE.
